Sunday School for children in preschool through 12th grade
IMAGINE: A Sunday School program that works to build a child's self-esteem by providing many opportunities for them to showcase their talents and abilities.
IMAGINE: Children being encouraged to express themselves through music, art, drama, writing, etc.
IMAGINE: Watching new friendships begin and grow.
IMAGINE: A place where all children feel loved and safe.
If you have imagined any of these for your children then the Congregational Church of Birmingham, UCC is the place to be!
CCB is a special place for families. When your child joins us for Sunday School, you will receive a smile and welcome, not a pager. Staff and members of CCB believe that our children are special and deserve to be known by their names and not just a number.
We would like to welcome all families to participate in Sunday School. The Board of Christian Education is working hard to make each week an engaging, educational experience for all children. We want to teach them how to live their lives as loving Christians, just as Jesus taught us.
We invite all children to join our program Sunday mornings during the 10:30 a.m. service.

Little Sprouts Sunday School for potty-trained children in Preschool
Our Sunday School program for preschoolers is full of activity. Our goal for each child is that they find a place that they feel loved and want to come back to each week. This is the age that friendships begin and grow. Our activities are planned to allow for that end result. Each week the children will experience a lesson that will include an activity. They have a snack together and then they have free time to play together. This is such a fun, energetic time in a child’s life and we hope to enhance their Sunday mornings each week.

Creation Stations Sunday School for Kindergarten-5th graders
Imagine coming to Sunday School and being invited to paint a mural at our “Creative Corners” workshop or star in a puppet show in the “Good News” room.
The Congregational Church of Birmingham, United Church of Christ, uses the Rotation Model of Sunday School workshops. It’s an innovative and exciting way of doing Sunday School. We call it “Creation Stations!”
Creation Stations is an interactive approach to Christian education involving all our senses. This multidimensional approach of doing Sunday School teaches Bible stories and concepts through innovative, child-friendly multi-media workshops. Creation Stations is a place where children grow to be faithful disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Here's How It Works
Grade-level groups are rotated to a different workshop each week. This allows each child to learn the same biblical story with different teaching styles for four to six weeks.
Children love the variety and want to return each week, of course, they each have their favorites. Repetition helps memory retention and provides opportunities for in-depth exploration and integration of the faith story in their hearts and minds.
This approach is designed to take full advantage of our child’s multidimensional learning thereby providing a creative and fun alternative to the “one size fits all” curriculum.

FROGS Sunday School for 6th – 8th graders
Our middle school group use the Season’s of the Spirit curriculum. The program focuses more on the spiritual aspect of life and less on Bible stories. This curriculum is ever changing to be relevant to the current time. They are able to explore more deeply the seasons that are celebrated in the church and of other religious groups.
They meet in “The Pad” where they are also able to hang out and share in fellowship with each other. They work to make the space their own so that it is comfortable and inviting. This age group is very social and we strive to provide the opportunity to do just that while helping them build their Christian foundation.
