Habitat for Humanity Blitz Build Board - May 6, 13 and 20 -'BUY' A SQUARE FOR HABITAT FOR HUMANITY!  Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County hopes to raise $2.4 million or more this year to restore 20 homes which will be sold to families in need through an interest-free mortgage. The first two projects will be held June 11-16 and July 9-14 in Southfield as part of a Habitat Community Kickoff. Help CCB meet its $1,000 pledge by "buying" a square in our Blitz Build board, which will be set up at the main entrance on three consecutive Sundays - May 6, 13 and 20. When you buy a square, you can write a message of congratulations to the new homeowner! Green Ministry Field Trip -Friday, June 1, 12 - 2pm - Visit The Green Garage and see Detroit's Sustainable Future Open House & Community Lunch (BYO). The Green Garage is actually three things: a building located in the Midtown area of Detroit, a business enterprise, and a community of people dedicated to Detroit's sustainable future. Directions and carpooling available. Location The Green Garage, 4444 Second Ave, Detroit   Mission to Pine Ridge - June 21 - July 1 - Send us to South Dakota. The Pine Ridge Reservation in southwestern South Dakota, home to the Oglala Lakota Sioux, whose fascinating history includes the victory at the Battle of Little Big Horn and the devastating massacre at Wounded Knee. Today, the unemployment rate hovers near 85 percent with 97 percent living below the federal poverty level and an average family income of just $3,700 per year. As volunteers, our mission is founded on a respect for the indigenous culture and spirituality. And grows from building relationships, in our role as friends and neighbors in a community with the Oglala Lakota people. Our project work will include building shelters, outhouses, beds and more. VBS -July 20-22 -Mark your calendar! The Board of Christian Education will be hosting Vacation Bible School at CCB. This year’s theme will be Babylon: Daniel’s Courage in Captivity. This will be a weekend full of intergenerational activities. Adults, children and friends of CCB are ALL welcome! August Brunch Bash - Sunday, Aug. 26, 11:30 am -  Gentlemen of CCB: It will come to pass in August that the men of CCB will be responsible for planning, cooking, and serving the August Brunch Bash! Imagine if you will that this event will be the beginning of a CCB Men's Group, meeting perhaps quarterly to share an hour of fellowship.  Let's step up and match what the CCB Women have done! We need an organizing meeting in early July, say after church on the 8th in the Garden.
