CROP Walk Update - Good News! CCB's 2011 Birmingham/Bloomfield CROP Walk team raised $2,370 to help Church World Service fight hunger around the world and here at home. Our team consisted of Marty Bjorkman; Margherita Fisher; Marie Hochstein (Spirit Walker); Chris Mead; Deirdre, Aidan and William Menchaca; Steve Olson and Lynn Wilsher; Pat Parker; Mary and Cameron Perrin; Nancy Schermerhorn; and Paul von Oeyen. Thanks to the many CCB members and friends whose generous contributions made this year's CROP Walk a success. The Birmingham/Bloomfield CROP Walk team would also like to thank Comerica Bank, Mills Pharmacy and Ray's Ice Cream for their support.
Outreach

Our outreach programs affirm our belief that
"God Is Still Speaking"
in our lives, in our community and in our world.

We support a wide variety of programs and initiatives with monetary donations and volunteer work…

The Rummage Sale
Our annual Rummage Sale in the Spring is the ‘triple header’ of Outreach Activities.
People: almost everyone gets involved - kids and teens helping set-up and sort, everyone contributing their beautiful, but no longer wanted items.
Planet:  almost all the contributions are ‘recycled’ as they find useful new lives with new owners.
Profits:  the Rummage Sale is our major source of funding for additional Outreach activities.

South Oakland Shelter
South Oakland Shelter (SOS) is a nonprofit agency which provides shelter, education and counseling to men, women and children in a safe, alcohol and drug-free environment. CCB has joined other churches in the area hosting the shelter for one week during the year. Meals, overnight lodging, pastoral counseling, job search assistance and a compassionate ear are provided to up to 30 individuals per night.

Little Dresses for Africa
Changing lives one little dress at a time.  Simple dresses are lovingly hand-made and distributed through the orphanages of central Africa… to plant in the hearts of little girls that they are worthy!  A small group of CCB women have sewn more than 250 dresses to add to those of groups across the country.  In the words of Little Dresses for Africa founder, Rachel O’Neill, “We are not just sending dresses, we are sending hope.”
