National Gun Violence Awareness Day – June 2 

Every day, 120 Americans are killed with guns. The National Gun Violence Awareness Day will fall on June 2 this year.  On June 2 you can wear anything Orange to commemorate the day. Wearing Orange on this date started as a tribute to Hadiya Pendleton, a high school student who was shot and killed on a playground in Chicago. Soon after this tragedy, Hadiya’s childhood friends decided to commemorate her life by wearing Orange, the color hunters wear in the woods to protect themselves and others.

Many people will attend city council meetings this week and next to encourage local leaders to declare June 2, 2023 as Gun Violence Awareness Day in our towns. If you would like to participate please attend one of the following City meetings wearing something Orange in support of the proclamation:
